Proverbs 1:20, “Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:”

Solomon employs a marvelous literary device in that he personifies wisdom as a woman who calls out to us. Wisdom understands the three keys to real estate – location, location, location. She calls out “in the streets…in the chief places…in the openings of the gates”(vv. 20-22). Wisdom is positioned at the busiest intersection of the city so that she may be heard, but simply listening to her does not make one wise. Obedience is expected. Obedience is doing what God says, when He says to do it, with the right heart motivation, and empowered by His Spirit. Let’s not be professional hearers. Let’s instead hear and heed God’s Word, and the godly counsel from others.
