1 Timothy 6:6, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Our world doesn’t get it. Happiness is not a pursuit but is a reward. Paul encouraged Timothy (and us) to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11). The pursuit of those qualities – driven by trust in God – will bring happiness. Happiness cannot be the believer’s life goal. God and His Word must be our passion. When this is the case, we will follow Him whether or not we feel happy. Only then will we discover that it is God who ultimately gives us true happiness as a gift of His grace. Do you get it?
