2 Corinthians 2:14, “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.”
Like parades? Today’s text conjures up images of the Rome’s triumphal processions through the city to celebrate and demonstrate the empire’s powerful extent. Paul’s uses that image as a metaphor of Jesus Christ’s victory over sin in the life of every believer. Believers have a new master – the Lord Jesus – and having been gloriously set free (Romans 6:18), our new King leads us in triumphal procession. In addition to that, the believer’s life should carry the scent of God’s grace, a continual reminder to others of the victorious and joyous freedom found only in Christ Jesus. Trust God. Be thankful (and enjoy the parade)!
