The Joy of Forgiveness

Psalm 32:1-2, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.”

David begins this psalm by celebrating the joy of forgiveness. There is no greater blessing than knowing our sins have been covered by God’s grace. Guilt weighs us down, but confession brings freedom because God is faithful to forgive those who come to Him with repentant hearts.

This blessing is possible because of Jesus Christ. At the cross, He bore the punishment for our sin so that we could be declared righteous before God. We do not earn forgiveness through our works; we receive it by faith in the finished work of Christ.

Act today: Thank God for His forgiveness. If there is unconfessed sin in your life, bring it before Him today and rejoice in His grace.
