The Lord is My Shepherd

Psalm 23:1-3, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

David describes the Lord as a faithful Shepherd who provides, restores, and leads His people. Sheep depend completely upon their shepherd, and believers are no different. Left to ourselves, we wander, but God faithfully guides us in the right path.

Jesus identified Himself as the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep. Because of His sacrifice, we can trust His leadership even when we cannot see what lies ahead. The Shepherd never abandons His flock.
