A Reason to Sing
Psalm 33:4–5, “For the word of the LORD is right; and all His works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.”
Psalm 33 begins with a call to rejoice, praise, sing, and play skillfully before the LORD. As a Minister of Music, I love that command. But the Psalm does not stop with the music. It tells us why we should sing.
We sing because the Word of the LORD is right. We praise Him because all His works are done in truth. We worship because He is righteous, just, and good.
Our praise is not built upon how we feel that morning. It is built upon who God is.
The rest of Psalm 33 reminds us that God created the heavens, rules over the nations, sees every person, and watches over those who trust in His mercy. Armies fail. Human strength fails. Our plans fail. But the counsel of the LORD stands forever.
That gives us a reason to sing—even when life is difficult. God is still right. God is still faithful. God is still good.
Act Today: Read all of Psalm 33 and write down one reason it gives you to praise the LORD. Carry that truth with you, and let it become your song today.
