Psalm 119:10, “With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments.”

About this verse C.H. Spurgeon wrote: “We are to be such wholehearted seekers that we have neither the time nor will to be wanderers.” Believers, let’s be single-minded in the goal of wholehearted living for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Some synonyms for wholehearted are determined, dedicated, committed, resolved, genuine, exclusive, and complete.

One of the keys to understanding and living today’s text is knowing what “the heart” represents in Scripture. We cannot lead wholehearted lives if we have the wrong idea of what the heart means. The definition of “whole heart” is “inner man, mind, will, heart, understanding; emotions and passions, courage, thoughts, and will of an individual.” The heart is the place where we both think and feel. Therefore, if we are to think and feel in a way that glorifies God and is good for us—and those two things always go together—then God’s Word should be treasured, deeply considered, thoroughly felt, so that it may be accurately communicated and clearly demonstrated.
