2 Timothy 2:2, “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” 

1 Peter 3:15, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”

The best way to help others is to show them God’s solution and then aid them in applying that solution to their lives. This requires a thorough and increasing knowledge of God’s Word, which is the process of discipleship, but before we can teach others, we must be learning ourselves. We must know what we believe and why we believe it, so that we may give an appropriate response to those with whom we speak about our faith.
