The Cost of Folly

Proverbs 6:32-33, “But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonor shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.”

Sin steals more than your innocence. Sin will rob you of your reputation. Adultery brings wounds that permanently scar, and deals our dishonor that cuts deep, lingering long after the moment passes. The damage spreads to families, churches, and future generations. What seems exciting in secret becomes public ruin in due time. Solomon’s language is plain. The adulterer lacks sense. He trades eternal joy for temporary thrill and inherits a lifetime of regret. Yet Christ is the refuge for the repentant. The cross covers shame when sin is brought into the light.

The Spirit restores those who turn back with broken honesty. Restoration does not erase consequences but redeems them. God uses even the wreckage to teach wisdom, rebuild character, and warn others. Do not play with what destroys. Walk in truth, keep your vows, and let God’s grace heal what sin tries to break. The disgrace of past foolishness fades under the blood of Jesus when repentance is real and obedience follows.

Act today: If you carry hidden guilt or secret compromise, bring it to God in prayer. Confess honestly, seek a trusted believer for counsel, and take one step toward full transparency today.
