Wisdom’s Open Table
Proverbs 9:1-5, “Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city, Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.”
Wisdom has not remained silent in the shadows. She has built a house, hewn seven pillars, slaughtered meat, mixed wine, and spread a table. Then she sends her servants into the streets to call the simple: “turn aside, come, eat, drink, leave foolishness, and live.” This is not an exclusive club for the religious elite but a royal invitation to the unsteady, the confused, and the weary. Jesus is the true Wisdom who calls sinners to His banquet. He prepared the ultimate feast through His crucified body and poured-out blood. The servants are the churches, sent to invite the lost. When you hear the call, do not negotiate with pride. Turn aside, take your seat, and feast on Christ. The table is ready. The King waits. Flee foolishness, and step into the life only He gives.
Act today: Respond to the gospel call afresh. Read 1 Corinthians 1:30, thank Jesus for His prepared feast, and step away from one foolish distraction so you can hunger only for Him today.
