Lamp and Light

Proverbs 6:23, “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:”

God’s Word (the Lord’s commandment”) is the lamp that all people need. God’s Word is the teaching light, reproving us and showing us the way to life. Scripture does not merely expose wrong but illuminates the right path. Ignore God’s Word and you will grope around in the darkness. Accept the Bible’s corrective spotlight and you will walk straightly and securely. The same Word that wounds pride mends those faithful wounds so that the hearer is stronger and moving in the right direction.

Act today: Memorize Proverbs 6:23 and quote it when a temptation surfaces, letting its light redirect your steps.
