The Doorway to Knowledge and Wisdom

Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Awe-filled reverence is more than just terror, but is the joyful awareness that God is God and you are not. Every honest inquiry, every skill, every ethical insight sprouts from that soil. If I push God to the margin, even my cleverness becomes a liability because I’ll use it to justify myself rather than to serve. “Fear of the Lord” straightens the spine of learning and tells me whom to please, whom to trust, and whom to mirror. When I grasp that the Creator sees and judges, I also hear that He mercifully instructs. Real wisdom begins when I admit I need His tutoring.

Act today: Pause before opening a book, app, or podcast and pray, “LORD, teach me.” At day’s end, review one lesson and ask how it honored the LORD.
