Guard the Narrow Road

Proverbs 4:10-13, “Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.”

God’s instruction does not restrict life but expands life. When we walk in His way, our steps are not constrained—they are liberated from dead ends. Hold fast to instruction. Do not let wisdom go. Keep her, for she is your life. This is covenant loyalty. “When we walk with the Lord in the light of his word, what a glory he sheds on our way!  While we do his good will, he abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.” (Trust and Obey)

Jesus walked the righteous path perfectly, enduring the cross so we could walk in grace. The Spirit now empowers us to hold fast, not by willpower alone, but by clinging to Christ’s finished work. Every day, two paths pull at us: convenience or commitment. God’s Word charts the safe route, not because He loves limits, but because He loves our flourishing. When you keep His instruction, you step into life that outlasts circumstance.

Act today: Identify one habit that consistently pulls you off track. Write a specific, Bible-aligned boundary you will keep for seven days and ask a believer to pray with you.
