First Honor. Then Fulness

Proverbs 3:9-10, “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”

God does not need our money, but He desires our hearts. Bringing the “firstfruits” to God declares that everything we own belongs to Him ultimately. Generous giving to your church is not a tax. That is worship. When we give first, we fight the idols of false security and materialism while training our desires for the kingdom of God.

Christ is the ultimate firstfruit. God gave His only Son before we could pay our debt. The Father spared nothing, so we are invited to hold our resources loosely. The Holy Spirit enables believers to give cheerfully, trusting that God multiplies what is surrendered for His glory. Abundance in Scripture is never an end in itself but is fuel for covenant faithfulness. When you prioritize God’s work with your income, you partner with heaven to bless others, fund gospel ministry, and reflect divine generosity.

Act today: Calculate ten percent of your current income or a specific amount. Use that amount as the starting point for faithful giving to your church every week, and trust God to provide for your daily needs.
