Mining Hidden Silver
Proverbs 2:1-5, “My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”
Taking Scripture in with a shrug will never do. Solomon tells his son to receive, treasure, incline, cry out, seek, and search, verbs of sweaty effort. Wisdom is buried silver. God refuses to hand it to the lazy because the digging trains our souls to value what we find. As you bore downward, you discover more than facts; you gain “the fear of the LORD,” a worshipful awareness that organizes every other insight. Reverence is not a bolt-on emotion but is the very atmosphere of clear thinking. When your heart rises in awe, you know the hunt has struck ore.
Act today: Block fifteen uninterrupted minutes. Read Proverbs 2 aloud, mark every verb that calls for action, and pray those verbs back to God as promises you intend to keep.
