Proverbs 7:10-13, “And, behold, there met him a woman with attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. (She is loud and stubborn; her feed abide not in her house: Now is shewithout, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.) So she caught him and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,”

We are slow-walking through Proverbs 7, which reveals nine reasons why we yield to temptation. Reason #6 is the failure to recognize sin’s appeal. If sin was not appealing there would be no temptation. Remember, it was by faith that Moses chose to suffer affliction with God’s people rather than enjoying the pleasures of sin for a season. The pleasures of sin may be fleeting, but the pleasures do exist. We make ourselves vulnerable if we fail to realize this.

Sin is pleasurable, and it is predatory, “She…lieth in wait at every corner…so she caught him.” Sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for us, but we must rule over it. Cain failed to recognize this, and he murdered his brother (Genesis 4:5-8). We are vulnerable to temptation when we fail to recognize sin’s appeal. Find your satisfaction in trusting and obeying God. Taste and see that the Lord is good!
