Romans 5:1-2, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

People claim to desire peace, yet peace is elusive. Even when it appears that peace has been achieved, we soon discover that we were deceived. There is no peace. Part of the problem with finding peace is that we often misunderstand the nature of it. The nature of peace is not simply the absence of external conflict, turmoil, tribulation, or aggravation. Most people want a peaceful, easy feeling in their everyday lives, but external peace will not last long without internal peace. By that I mean being at peace with God by receiving peace from Him. The good news is that this peace from God is a freely offered gift! God will generously deposit this peace into your account. No pre-conditional requirements. No fine print that might cause forfeiture of the gift, the deposit. All you must do is receive what God generously supplies. The basis of peace with God is the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, and that gracious gift is received by faith alone. By nature we are at war with God. By nature we are in rebellion against the One who created us and called us to enjoy life with Him according to His good design. The only way for there to be peace is for God to make it happen. Through our Lord Jesus Christ He has! Have you received His peace?
