Psalm 32:5, “I acknowledged my sin unto Thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and Thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.”
Sin saps everything of value from our lives. Sin promises freedom and happiness but only delivers bondage and despair. Sin is also inevitable, because sin is our nature. Does this mean we give up and give in to sin? No way! We must respond as David did and come to the place where we acknowledge our sin. The quicker we can get there the better. Notice that David did not blame his sin on others, on his circumstances, or on his environment. We must agree with God that we have broken His just commands, that we have done wrong, and that we have stepped over the boundary. No one else is to blame. Nothing else is at fault. I acknowledge my sin and I will not hide my iniquity, but I will confess my transgressions, no matter what they are, because only then will I be completely forgiven and restored. Trust the truth of God rather than the empty promises of sin. That is what delivers freedom and happiness.
