Go Tell the Good News!

Matthew 28:16-20, “Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw Him, they worshipped Him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (c.f. Acts 1:8)

The crucified and risen Christ has issued a commission to His churches that rings like a clarion call: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” Our vision of the Great Commission should pulsate with evangelistic urgency. The gospel is exclusive. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus. He alone is the waythe truth, and the life. Praise God that the gospel is also gloriously inclusive because all who repent and believe will be received and welcomed. The resurrected King supplies both authority and presence: “I am with you always.” Lean on that promise as you share the message of the cross and the empty tomb with neighbors, co-workers, and the unreached. Missions is not simply a church program. Missions—locally and globally—must be the church’s heartbeat. Let’s ask our Sovereign Redeemer to fill us with His Spirit and with His compassion for the lost, beginning with the lost nearest us. May the victory of Calvary and the triumph of the resurrection propel us to communicate the message of the gospel and demonstrate the implications of the gospel for the glory of His great name. Amen!
