Isaiah 6:1, “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.”

The prophet Isaiah trusted and loved his King Uzziah, and for good reason. Uzziah reigned long and well (2 Chronicles 26). Sadly, he stumbled at the end of his race instead of breasting the tape at a hard sprint, but his reign had seen Judah prosper and protected. Now the good King Uzziah was dead. In that needy moment the King of kings graciously provided Isaiah the vision he desperately needed. While God’s grace is amazing His glory is awe-inspiring, and that is what Isaiah witnessed. Jotham was on Uzziah’s throne as king of Judah. God was on His throne as King of glory and all creation! Trust the awesome God who cares for His people.
