The Coming Judgment Seat

Romans 14:10-12, “But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

This passage reminds both the strong and the weak that we will all stand before God’s perfect and righteous judgment seat, and on that day each one will give an account of himself, not of his neighbor. Our present conduct will be purified if we remember this future meeting. No one but the Lord’s wears the robe of judge. Ours must be the humble posture of steward. Instead of cataloging other believers bad choices or gray-area decision, let’s prepare to answer for our own words, motives, and use (or abuse) of liberty. Accountability to Christ frees us from judging one another. Confidence that Jesus adjudicates perfectly grants us peace to love others, as imperfect as that may be. Instead of judging others. let’s keep our eyes on Christ and our own future review before Him.
