Isaiah 6:8, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

This verse takes us to a truly amazing moment. The prophet Isaiah is in God’s presence, filled with awe. In this holy place, he hears the voice of the Lord speaking. But what does God say? He asks a question: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?“  Think about this for a moment. This is God, the all-powerful Creator of the universe. He doesn’t command or force anyone to go. Instead, He asks for volunteers. It’s like a team captain looking at a group of players and asking, “Who is ready to go into the game? Who will step up?” God wants people who are willing in their hearts, not robots who just follow orders. He could use angels, but He chooses to use us – people. The phrase “for Us” even gives us a glimpse into the beautiful truth of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working together.

And what is Isaiah’s response? He doesn’t hesitate. He doesn’t say, “Let me think about it,” or “Maybe someone else is better.” His answer is immediate and clear: “Here am I. Send me.” This shows a heart that is ready and willing to serve. What made Isaiah so ready? He had just been in God’s holy presence. He had recognized his own sin, and then he had experienced God’s cleansing touch. This powerful experience prepared his heart to hear God’s question and respond with eagerness. He understood that God’s people needed a message, and he knew God’s heart to reach the nations.

Today, God is still asking the same question. He looks for willing hearts among us. He wants to send us to share His love and truth in our families, our workplaces, our communities, and around the world. He doesn’t force us. He waits for us to say, “Here am I! Send me.” Just like Isaiah, when we have experienced God’s holiness and His cleansing, our hearts become ready to answer His call.
