Jeremiah 33:1-3, “Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is His name; Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

This passage begins with Jeremiah, God’s prophet, in a very difficult place. He was in prison, while his city, Jerusalem, was under attack. Imagine being in a jail cell, with your city in great danger – a very scary time. But even in this hard moment, God’s message came to Jeremiah again. God speaks to Jeremiah, reminding him of His great power. He says, “Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it.” This is a reminder that the God speaking is the One who made everything, who formed the world, and who is always faithful to His promises.

Then comes a beautiful invitation for Jeremiah, and for us: Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Think of it like this: Imagine you are lost, or you have a big problem, and you call a very wise and powerful friend who knows everything. God is inviting us to call Him, to pray to Him. And He promises not just to listen, but to answer! He will show us amazing and powerful things – things that are hidden from us now, things we cannot possibly know or understand on our own.

Even when Jeremiah was in prison, facing terrible trouble, God offered hope and a promise of revelation through prayer. For us today, when we are confused, worried, or facing big challenges, God gives the same invitation. He wants us to pray with faith, knowing He will answer and reveal His powerful plan, even the parts we cannot see right now.
