Jeremiah 2:13, “For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.”
Cisterns are only able to hold a limited amount of water. Naturally, broken cisterns will not hold any water. Water is necessary for life. Why trust in a limited amount of a necessary resource? Why trust at all in a leaky well? Jesus Christ does not just have living water. He is the very fountain head of that living water, a fountain springing up that will never, can never run dry (John 4:1-26). Trust this water source. Drink deeply and often from this water source and abandon all regard for any other. All the cisterns of this world are broken. They are death, not life. Jesus saves. Jesus sustains. Trust His provision and the timing of it. He will always satisfy.
